Hello and welcome!

My name is Shairose and I am the artisan behind the Bijoux Bar YEG.

My fascination with jewellery started at a young age, but it wasn't until my then-five year old daughter wanted to learn to make jewellery that I discovered my true creative passion - creating beautiful jewellery from glass. From the moment I was able to melt glass into a molten ball, I was hooked.

I come from a rich and diverse heritage spanning Gujarat (a state found on the west coast of India), east Africa (I was born in Tanzania and lived between there and Kenya as a child), and of course, our multicultural Canada, where I have grown up.  I love being able to express and articulate my heritage and culture through the designs and colours of my pieces. My creations are augmented with silver, copper, semi-precious stones, and even vintage fabric from India and east Africa.  You will also notice a lot of colour in my work. I love bold, bright colours because I believe they signify the beauty of creation and can elicit feelings of happiness in us. It is an absolute honour for me to bring a smile to someone's face through my work.
